Modernist Aerie on Woodrow Wilson Drive, $3.15M

by Philip Ferrato

Los Angeles is a goldmine of Mid-Century architecture– the beneficiary of a booming post-WWII economy, a creative class of people willing to live in a new way, and a sublime climate that encouraged a new kind of seamless indoor-outdoor living.

Very private, and perched on the edge of a canyon in the Hollywood Hills, this simple but expansive Post+Beam from 1961 is a prime example. Designed by architect Perry Neuschatz, it also benefits from a sensitive and discreet 1980s addition by Post-Modern architect Peter de Bretteville.

What We Love: The interiors are simple, light-filled open spaces, ideal for a collection Modernist design.

Much of De Brettville’s work is on the lower level, a suite of rooms perfect for a home office or guest suite.

More: Go to the listing for additional images and details. An outstanding opportunity to own a classic LA property, represented by architecture specialists Rob Kalick and Justin Freeling at Compass.
