New mural in Cortez intersection
The Downtown San Diego Partnership Clean & Safe program and the Cortez Hill Active Residents Group (CHARG) have partnered on the installation of a new pavement mural at the intersection of Cedar Street and Third Avenue in the Cortez neighborhood of Downtown San Diego on Oct. 5. Spanning 32 feet by 30 feet, the mural was designed by local artists Phoebe Cornog and Roxy Prima, the force behind the popular Ladies Who Paint mural festival.
The design takes inspiration from the architecture of the neighborhood, including the famous El Cortez building, and pairs it with bright, bold colors for a moment of unexpected joy. Located at a key gateway into Downtown, the mural will improve the visual quality of the public right-of-way and enhance the pedestrian experience for residents and visitors.
